Sony Mobile begins Android 4.0 update for Xperia smartphones

Sony Mobile has started rolling out the Android 4.0 update for its Xperia smartphones, company stated in a blog post. The current update release is limited to Nordic countries, while other global markets including India will be getting the updates in the coming weeks.
Company has also stated that it is only updating Sony Xperia arc S, neo V and Ray smartphone in the current phase, while Xperia arc, Xperia Play, Xperia neo, Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman smartphones will receive the update in the next phase. It is expected to begin in May or early June.
The Android 4.0 update brings several new features including the brand new UI, Face Unlock, Task Switcher and new Contacts app.
Sony has revealed that consumers will need to connect their smartphones to a PC/ Mac and run PC Companion utility to complete the update process. There will be no over-the-air update release.
