Facial Hair Growth

Of the many secondary sexual characteristics, associated with the onset of puberty in the males of our species, facial hair is the most prominently visible. It marks the beginning of a boy’s journey towards manhood.

Facial hair growth is fairly sparse to begin with, and generally men develop a complete adult beard in their 20’s and in some cases even later. Some boys develop facial hair faster than others and this can bring about embarrassing consequences for the late bloomers. But unfortunately, there is no tried and tested way to stimulate facial hair growth.

The rate at which facial hair grows is primarily determined by one’s genetics. Testosterone, among other things, is the hormone responsible for hair growth both on the body and the face. Although there are ways to introduce more testosterone into the body artificially, it is not generally recommended as it can have some fairly unhealthy side-effects. The good news is that your overall physical health does have some bearing on facial hair growth and so if you maintain a well balanced diet and engage in regular exercise, chances are that this will help with the promotion of facial hair.

Now one may ask,” What about Facial Hair growth products?” As far as these are concerned there are no known products that guarantee the stimulation of facial hair. Hair on the head is different from facial hair, and so conventional hair growth products will not work on one’s face. The growth of facial hair is a natural process and in this case patience is truly a virtue.

On the other hand, some women also experience some growth of hair on their face and quite understandably so want to try and stop facial hair growth. Before trying to get rid of it, you should first consult your medical practitioner to check if the facial hair just happens to be genetic or there is another underlying problem of which the facial hair only happens to be a symptom. It could be the outcome of abnormal hormonal variation or it could be something more serious like diabetes or even PCOD; that is Polly Cystic Ovary Disease. If this is the case then once the disease or illness is treated the facial hair growth should stop automatically. And if not associated with any illness or disorder, then there are a number of treatments that can be done at home to either get rid of the facial hair or stop it altogether.

Tips To Fade Age Spots

  • To get rid of age spots apply lemon juice at least twice a day. You may also try a cream of yogurt with honey (equal parts of each). Apply once daily, let sit for half an hour and then wash.

  • Another good home remedy for age spots is to extract the gel from an aloe vera leaf and apply it twice a day. Also, applying whey or buttermilk has been a very common remedy through the years.

  • And one more natural remedy to fade age spots is castor oil. Just apply it to the affected area in the morning and at night.

  • To prevent age spots avoid the sun and use sunscreen.

  • Hydrogen peroxide: A very effective solution for age spots is hydrogen peroxide. Soak a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide and go over your face with it before going to bed.

  • Apple cider vinegar: Apply a cotton swab with apple cider vinegar every day and leave for 20 minutes. Follow with a layer of plain yogurt (no flavor) for about 20 minutes. Wash.

Shaving Tips For Men's

If you are suffering from any of these skin conditions, take a look at these 10 shaving tips -- one or more may correct your problem...

  • It's best to avoid shaving the very first thing in the morning. If possible, let your skin wake up a while. This allows the "puffiness" you encounter from fluids collecting in your skin during the night to recede, thus allowing you to get a closer shave when you do begin the task.

      • Use an exfoliate such as a facial cleanser or scrub to eradicate dead skin cells and open up the pores of the skin to prepare it for a close shave.

        • Stubble should be wetted with warm or hot water before shaving. This swells the hair shaft allowing the blade to cut the hair, not your skin.

        • Thoroughly massage shave cream into stubble. A vitamin and Aloe Vera based shave cream will provide a close soothing shave and protect against razor rashes and burns.
        • Use a sharp blade. A dull blade is responsible for many shaving cuts as it drags over your face and catches your skin along with the hairs of your beard.

        • Rinse the blade often in hot water when shaving and use slow short strokes. Take your time.

        • Shaving with grain means shaving in the direction of how the hair grows on your face. It is always best to shave this way. Shaving against the grain can cause redness, rashes, razor burn and ingrown hairs, which are all painful.

        • After shaving, apply an oil-free moisturizer to soothe and protect the face. If you prefer an after-shave, check the label for alcohol. Dryness and stinging sensations are by-products of most after-shave products whose primary ingredient is alcohol. It may feel good at the time, but alcohol based after-shaves are actually irritating to many complexions.

        • Be wary of mentholated shaving products. Although the "cool" sensation feels good on the face, menthol, like alcohol, can be irritating to the skin.

          • A lot of foam or lather is not needed. Many grocery and drug store shave creams contain skin irritants such as Sodium Laurel Sulfate, which are formulated to "foam up" the product. However, these irritants may be the cause of your skin problem.
